Plenty of capacity to handle any kind of waste

The Star Industries Crane Trash Skip has plenty of capacity to handle almost any kind of trash or bulk material. Designed to be hoisted with a set of 10 ft or longer cable straps, it’s a safe and easy way to remove ‘tear off’ and other construction refuse from roofs and decks.

  • Heavy 3/16" steel plate construction
  • Strong 1/4" angle reinforces top edge and corners
  • Rugged channel reinforces sides and bottom
  • Available in six models with weight capacity up to 13,000 lbs
  • Sloped skip end for easy load discharging
  • Fork pocket and fork riser options available

To dump the skip, the two forward slings are disconnected from the lifting eyes with the lifting line slack. The skip is then lifted with the rear slings still connected, effectively dumping the load from the sloped end.

Options

  • Rear Fork Pockets (-FPR): 4″ x 8″ full rear fork pockets, available on the 1446B and 1447B only (adds approx. 144 lbs).
  • Risers & Fork Loops (-FPS): raises the skip and adds fork loops for handling with a forklift or telehandler.
  • Rigging (slings and shackles) is not included.

Manage Waste Efficiently With a Crane Trash Skip

It can be challenging to remove waste from a construction site, particularly from roof decks, where conventional waste bins or barrows are not available. You need a simple, hassle-free way to collect and dump waste. A crane trash skip is the perfect solution. It’s a fast, easy, and, most importantly, safer way to collect, move, and dispose of waste on a busy construction site.

What Is a Crane Trash Skip?

This is an industrial container designed to be lifted and transported by a crane. It is typically used for collecting, storing, and disposing of large volumes of waste material generated during construction, demolition, or large-scale clean-up projects. These robust skips, sometimes called trash buckets or hoppers due to their open-top design and bucket-like shape, are engineered to handle extreme loads, irregular waste types, and challenging environments where manual handling is impractical.

Key Design Features of a Crane Skip Hopper

The crane trash skip’s rugged bucket is constructed from high-grade, heavy-duty steel. These containers are designed to withstand the repeated stresses of loading, lifting, and offloading heavy materials. The open-top configuration allows debris or waste to be filled quickly and easily, while reinforced corners and sturdy welds ensure lasting durability.

Secure lifting eyes connect to the crane’s cable straps for balanced lifting, which is crucial considering the uneven weight distribution in the skip, and minimize the risk of tipping or detachment during transport. With six sizes from 1.5 to 3.8 cubic yards, you can match the skip to the job without frequent emptying.

Popular Uses for the Crane Trash Skip

  • Removing concrete, plaster, brick, and other construction waste from roofs and decks.
  • Municipal services and industrial facilities disposing of bulky or difficult-to-handle waste.
  • Landscaping projects and emergency clean-ups after natural disasters.

Crane Trash Skip FAQs

What is a crane trash skip used for?

A crane trash skip is used to remove construction debris, rubbish and waste from elevated jobsites. It allows crews to load debris on an upper floor, lower or move the container with a crane, and discharge the material at the designated disposal area. This makes crane skips particularly useful on multi-story construction projects and large jobsites such as data center construction.

Is a crane skip the same thing as a skid pan?

The terminology varies within the crane and construction industries. Crane trash skips may also be referred to as skid pans, crane skips or construction skips.

Can a crane skip dump its load?

Yes. The sloped skip end helps crews safely discharge the load once the skip reaches the disposal area.

How do I choose the right size crane skip?

Crane skips are compared by cubic-yard capacity as well as maximum weight capacity. Choose a size based on the expected volume and weight of the debris being handled, while always staying within the rated capacity of the attachment and the crane.
